For children ages 4-10

The White Swan Express

What a charming book - I just loved the bright, engaging watercolor illustrations! This picture book tells the story of how in China, the moon shines on four baby girls, fast asleep in an orphanage. Far away in North America, the sun rises over four homes as the people who live there get ready to start a long, exciting journey. This lovely story of people who travel to China to be united with their daughters describes the adoption process step by step and the anxiety, suspense, and delight of becoming a family. An afterword gives a brief history of adoption in China, offers a bit about Chinese traditions and the Chinese language. What's especially nice about this story is how so many kinds of people and families are depicted. Cheerful and tender, this one is a keeper!
