Welcome Home, Forever Child

Welcome Home, Forever Child

We wished so long for a child like you, and then at last our dreams came true. It seems that in His way God knew, He'd found the perfect home for you. You were past diapers, bottles, and cribs. You would need no more booties or bibs. Though we weren't there for your first word, we're grateful that our prayers were heard. Christine Mitchell, the author, adopted her youngest daughter at the age of four from foster care. She had difficulty finding appropriate adoption books for her daughter. She was especially looking for one that would make a special gift on Adoption Day. The vast majority of children's adoption books reflect infant adoptions, and often are not ideal for children who spent months or years in foster care or an orphanage. She was inspired to write Welcome Home, Forever Child for her daughter and for other families who adopted their children as toddlers or older. This is a book that genuinely celebrates a young child joining their forever family past infancy. With its touching message of love and reassurance, and whimsical illustrations, Welcome Home, Forever Child is sure to be cherished by children and parents alike. While best suited to children ages two to eight, this gem will undoubtedly be enjoyed by older children as well. Most children's adoption books reflect infant adoptions, and may not be appropriate for the older child who spent their early years in foster care or an orphanage. Welcome Home, Forever Child is a much needed book that social workers and therapists will want to recommend to families who adopted their child past the age of two. The book helps parents reassure children of their permanent place in the new family, and of how much they are wanted and loved. Reading Level: Ages 2-8 Paperback - 32 pages
